2001 MTD 10.5 Hp Tecumseh snowblower is running rough. Once the engine is sufficiently warmed up she will work fine for about 10 min after which she will start to over rev. The exhaust will start to get red hot and the motor will backfire. I'm suspecting she running too rich. (Edit): It's probably the opposite as it doesn't make sense that she would smooth out when the choke is applied. What I've done. Replaced the float bowl O-ring Pulled apart the carb and cleaned the internals with carb cleaner Checked the float which had no gas or water in it Adjusted the float to proper hight Main jet bolt cleaned. Idle screw cleaned Changed the fuel line new Changed the primer line new The engine was rebuilt a year ago for a seized piston. Possible valve miss alignment after the fact. Since the carb is a none adjustable one, the main jet has no o-ring to replace just a small washer gasket which was in good condition. The idle screw (none adjustable as well) has no o-ring either so I just made certain the jet holes were clean. The carb was fairly clean when I took her off, no varnished gas or dirt to speak of. I used carb cleaner just to make her extra clean in the hopes it may resolve the over rev problem but no such luck.
